Battling Suburbia’s Stranglehold

Filed under: Simple Living — John Maass @ 7:01 am

There is a good article from the Washington Post on suburbanites recognizing that the monochromatic suburbs are, well, a bit lacking to say the least!

“Is there a way, a slower way, to eke out more meaning in one’s daily life?”

It’s not just suburban life that can leave people feeling like each day brings more of the same: commuting, work, errands, chores, pressure to pay the bills. The quest for more and bigger can breed isolation and stress, leaving some in the region to question their lifestyles.

  1. Way to go, John! Thanks for this reference, from a Pittsburgh city dweller who believes that the community of his neighborhood is a remedy for many, many ills. It’s great to see your site (I found it via kudos for it elsewhere), although it’s also sad to see a good blog die. My best to you and your family; get in touch sometime.
